1) The Utterly Butterly's - just plain silly.

2) That old geezer with a megaphone ranting on and on.

3) The preposterous numbers of 'visiting royalty' ......huh wtf?

4) The Carnival Procession, which is pointless.

Red Arrows are excellent obviously.

how can u say the procession is pointless! its the main attraction of the week, there will be about 55,000 people in dawlish that day to watch the airshow and the carnival, you call that piontless!

The airshow is great ('cept the Butterlys)

I'm very sorry, but the procession is pantomime codswallop. It needs quality-control.

And I speak as one who was a participant 32 years ago manning the inside of the head of a giant pink elephant operated by the Round Table.

And without wishing to boast, there has not been anything to surpass the pink elephant since.

Firstly, The utterly butterlys have not displayed at the Carnival Airshow for around 3 years now. So you obivously don't pay close attention!

And rotary will will be out with their buckets.
You give and then they claim they gave some of your money to some other charity.
Why do rotary always collect for some other charity, Can't those charities collect for themselves? I suppose there must be a hidden gain.

Are you talking about the lummoxes in drag who walk down the gutter at top speed shaking a bucket of coins?

...the kickback is that they get to keep any one pound or two pound coins that are dropped in.

Iv'e heard, they get to keep 40% to go towards expences.
That's called corruption.

Yes, lets not get pollyanna-ish about the prevalance of kickbacks.

Many years ago when I worked in a theatre as a cloakroom attendent, I pocketed the tips that I received, whereas I was meant to hand them over to the Boss.

The law requires that any collection device, ie, tin, glass jar, bucket etc, must be sealed and the container must carry the name, address or charity number. that in part should stop any fiddles.
The other part is, that those containers must only be opened under scrutiny.
Here's one that would never drop a penny into an open container, it's like making the rich, richer.

Well it proves that the town has very low outlook on life.

None of the Committee get paid, they are all volunteers and they do a fab job, give them your suggestion Im sure they will look into them.

I agree we need more on the lawn during Carnival rather than spending so much on the airshow.

Another thing is that they are not a registerd chairty, and the money they give to chairity is based on how much they make on the week. They never have and couldnt give it all to chairty or there wouldnt be a carnival week, more to the point they even need to give to chairty but they do! To add futher to that, I was at their AGM this year where did accounts made a loss, but they still GAVE A DONATION TO CHAIRTY, and thats good wil for you.

As said, give them suggestions, they need new ideas and im sure they would be happy to consider them. Help them to help you.
