Members of the town council were joined by Fairtrade representatives and political figures on September 7 to ask shoppers if they would like the campaign to have a higher profile, with more traders and consumers choosing products that guarantee global farmers a fair price.

” Newton Abbot MP Martin Wrigley said: “I helped Dawlish become a Fairtrade town 10 years ago and it’s flourished. It’s not virtue signalling, it’s reminding people that you have to make the market fair.

Newton Abbott MP talks quite allot of rubbish. Dawlish became a Fairtrade town way back in 2008 and at the time was one of the first in the County to obtain it's status.

What benefit does having Fairtrade status bring to the town, in reality what does it actually mean and do?
