When the so-called good guys struggle to abide by these idiotic laws then maybe it's time to repeal them and let the police go back to policing actual crime.

The "good guys" label everyone they disagree with as racists and fascists, which are clearly insults, and now they are cheering on their murder.

It will be interesting to see if Ricky Jones gets off lightly given he's one of the good guys.

Personally, I don't think speech should be policed. Only actions should be and people should be held accountable for their own actions.

Unfortunately it is only going to get worse.  The Online Safety Act brought in by the previous government will not fully come into effect until 2026, expect free speech to be stifled even more.

@burneside, I agree. Without freedom of speech, freedom of thought, and the freedom to love and hate whom we choose, the country will decline even further. Ironically, such oppressive laws are divisive and foster hatred. The best way to combat racism is through open dialogue.

Don't forget Ricky Jones' 'pre-trial preparation hearing' is in 2 weeks time on 6 September.

No speedy trials for those on the left in Keir Starmer's 2-tier socialist 'justice' system.

Another example of Keir Starmer's two tier policing and two tier justice is the ignoring of the incitement during the riots by Nick Lowles of the ironically-named "Hope not Hate" charity.

Because he is on the left, he can get away with offering an apology.

As a kid in the 1960's the phrase 'sticks and stones' was used a lot about hurt feelings. Also if some did annoy you to much then you had the right to flatten their nose a bit.

Sixty odd years later and you can get fast pathed to jail for making a comment online that someone does not like!

I wonder how the last few generations will do when Kier Stalin puts a rifle in their hands and points them towards Europe!!!!!

My parents would say if someone told you to jump off a cliff, would you do it?

People are responsible for their own actions regardless of what they may have heard others say.

No one should be imprisoned for saying something no matter how many people take offence to it or are insulted or incited by it. It's absurd and goes against the fundamental values that all free societies should uphold.

Labour councillor Ricky Jones’s  'pre-trial preparation hearing' tomorrow.

It will be fun to see how long they can drag this out for and still claim there is no 2-tier justice going on under our new socialist government.

Pleaded not guilty. Trial set for January next year. No speedy trials for the left.

I never understood why anyone would plead guilty anyway. You can't give offence, it can only be taken. Similarly with incitement. Lots of things are said figuratively. I can only assume they were naive of the law, threatened with even lengthier sentences, or promised short ones if they admitted their guilt but were then shafted with lengthy ones, or a combination. Many people have accepted cautions in the past without realising it leaves you with a criminal record.

The best way for the left to resolve this dilemma of having to sacrifice their own is to release anyone imprisoned purely for speech immediately. They are political prisoners anyway and we don't have prison room. We have enough real criminals to deal with.
