Teignmouth Lloyds Bank closed. Including the ATMs which had more functionality that regular ATMs. A bit of a shame.
Are we really expected not to use cash at all? A few months ago the card payments at major supermarkets went down, could only use cash. Doesn't make sense.
Yesterday i spent the day at the Royal Mint well worth a visit i may add, one of the interesting things was that prior to Covid the Mint was working 24/7 producing coins ,today they work 4.5 days per week 12 hours per day the reason there is no demand for cash.
Huge demand for cash last week when everything crashed. Alot of cash machines around the country are still being emptied as soon as they are filled. On Sunday I found a machine that was just dispensing only £5 notes , with a long Q. The whole episode was a major warning to those that think a cashless society is the way forwards. If the bank cards go down and apps go down you are up a creek without a paddle. As most of the bank branches have now closed down , you can't pop in one and withdraw cash when this happens. Amazing how many people couldn't buy any food or drink because the only thing they had on them was a phone with on line banking.
