A £15.4m new cycle route linking Torquay and Newton Abbot is expected to get the green light next week. Members of Teignbridge Council will be asked to support the ambitious bid to the Government’s Levelling Up Fund to deliver the “strategic” cycle route as well as links to the new neighbourhood of houses being built at Wolborough.

“Despite Newton Abbot, Teignmouth and Dawlish being amongst the hardest economically hit towns across Devon, our Levelling Up Fund status has stayed at the lowest priority level, which only attracted 7% of successful bids nationally in the first round of allocations.
