Frightening.

Putin is a bully and the biggest threat to world peace.

He is NOT interested in diplomacy and only interested in what HE thinks is right.

So much in common with Johnson. No wonder Putin funds him.

Doesn't all this show just how much we need to be as self sufficient as we possibly can be?

An increase in UK based food production (ie farming) and energy production come immediately to mind.

All those necessary things that we import from abroad could be cut off.

What then?

All very well but there is so much farmland now earmarked for housing and solar power, so where are we going to plant more crops?

@Carer - cut back on the housing development? Different circumstances = different priorities?

The lawn might even be turned into one big veg patch laugh

(Sorry for the flippancy but it's the effect Vlad the Mad has had on me  - he's now threatening the world with nukes).

Farmland takes up 70% of England's overall land. It really is a myth that there are no green (or yellow, etc) fields left.

70%.

Another way to help Ukraine (and all other democracies for that matter) help put pressure on the following to withdraw their businesses from Russia. Boycott them!

Coca Cola, MacDonalds, KFC, Pepsi, Burger King, Starbucks.
