Over the last two years The Lawn Working Group has been working on this amazing project. lets hope it won't take too much longer.

I went to the Manor Play Park at the weekend with my family and couldn't believe how sad old and rusty the equipment was not that there was much there.

and thats what will eventually happen to the proposed playpark on the strand ...................as goups decide who has to pay for the upkeep etc, plus  all the anti-social behaviour it will bring with it.

REPORT FOR TOWN COUNCIL – 7 TH JULY 2021 UPDATE ON LAWN WORKING GROUP

We are now at the stage where we are ready to submit our documents to the Procurement Website. This was agreed by the members of the Lawn Working Group on 14th June. Teignbridge have agreed to place the appropriate documentation on the procurement website through their Portal. We have had meetings with the following departments at Teignbridge: • Legal • Head of Place and Commercial Services • Procurement All these departments have guided and supported us through the process and will continue should we need their support.

The documents we have prepared to submit are as follows: • Plan of the Children’s Trail and Flagship Playpark • Plan of the area for the Flagship Play Park, we have expressed that we are not restricting the size of the footprint. • Video of the Children’s Trail • Results of a consultation with the schools – We carried out a consultation with schools, nurseries, toddler groups, children’s groups and we had a fantastic response back from the consultation. • Tender document • Procurement document • Design document • Sustainability document Teignbridge have read through the documents and are happy with what has been submitted. We are working with Teignbridge to confirm we have the right permissions required to proceed with the project.

The Town Clerk will be submitting the documents to Teignbridge to be uploaded onto the procurement portal. Finances Initially we considered appointing a consultant to guide us through the process, this would have been costly. We have prepared all the necessary documentation with the support of TDC officers and have saved in the region of £4500.00. We will not incur any expense whatsoever until the tendering process has been completed and the contract is awarded to the successful contractor.

The income available for this project so far is as follows: £68,000 - 106 money from Sainsburys £75,000 – we have asked that money for refurbishment of the Manor Play Park, which is in the Budget at Teignbridge be given towards the new Flag Ship Play Park. £40,000 - Dawlish Town Council. £183,000 – Total Funding Opportunities Until we have the draft plans and costs we cannot go out to Funders, but Cllr Byron Woods did a presentation to the LWG of potential funders whose criteria our project meets: • Landfill Communities Fund • SUEZ Community Funds • Viridor Credits Environmental Company • Grantscape Costal Recycling Community Fund • VCSE Health and Wellbeing Fund • Police Crime Commissioner Fund • Possible Lottery Funding Next Steps • The documents are uploaded to the Procurement Website for 35 days. • The responses will be taken to the LWG and a presentation to full council for final approval. •

Consultation to the Dawlish Community by various means. • Any alterations, additions, or changes to be made carried out. • Submit for planning approval. • Commence with the project. The Children’s Trail and Flagship Play Park will be suitable for a wide range of people, including those with disabilities and wheelchair users. We have worked closely with Oakwood College and their input has been invaluable. Oakwood College are very keen to have input in the project as it progresses, they have also agreed to support us with the funding applications. Timeline and Expected delivery time frame. The LWG agreed that we would ensure that when this project reaches fruition it would be the best that we could achieve and meet the expectations of the residents of Dawlish. To achieve this, we would not rush any of the processes. We will take each step as it comes and make sure we deliver the best for Dawlish. Once we have our draft plans and costs we can start to push forward with the delivery of this project.

Not ruining The Lawn would be the best option for Dawlish.

I believe the new playpark is to be in Manor Gardens, can anyone confirm this or have plans changed again? 

The flagship Play Park will be at the Manor Gardens. It will be a park for people with disabilities and people in wheelchairs that able bodied people can use as well.  

Seeing as this is going to be up out of the way at Manor Gardens, what is the so-called "Lawn Working Group" doing to enhance the lawn itself? I'm think in terms of using available funding to give us a bandstand to be proud of (I.e. a bandstand!). 

I am glad non disabled people will also be able to use the park. 

There is a town council meeting next week (Weds. 13th). This is on the agenda
