Funny this should come up on here. I have but only recently been in correspondence with local councillors about this matter.
TIC in Dawlish is now shut permanently. Wef December 2020 I believe. Dawlish Town Council has a Tourism Working Party. Its chair is Cllr Terry Lowther. I gather they are looking at, amongst other things, how to compensate for Dawlish no longer having a TIC. Suggest those concerned contact him to find out more info.
I have requested, via one of our District councillors, that the TIC signage be removed (very misleading for it still to be there) and that notices be put on the inside of the windows saying that the TIC is now permanently closed. It is, to use a Monty Python phrase, a dead parrot.
I don't get into the town that often so I'd be grateful if any of those that do could let me know if any of my requests are met.
Dawlish has been mis managed in my opinion for years. Anyone who has lived here for a decade or more can see this.
Don't worry peeps.
Teignmouth is being rejuvinated courtesy of your Council Tax and the new build Section 26 or whatever! Phew...thought we were being robbed there but all okay as Teignmouth being sorted!
Dawlish is going to have another 1000 homes...but it's okay because Teignmouth is being sorted!
I thought resources were being taken away from us like the Walk-Behind road sweeper and the Sea Mine opposite Harrisons...but it's all okay...Phew!...It's gone to Teignmouth thank God!
I thought I was paying Council Tax for nothing but...Phew...it's paying for realy good info boards across Teignmouth so were all good. Plus the Teignmouth Heritage Centre may be able to house some Dawlish Museum stuff because there's no way Dawlish will get a Heritage Centre.
Don't worry though...your Council Tax is being spent on things like the Dawlish Pavillions so that we have a decent entertainment venue in the town....oh, wait, sorry, thats Teignmouth Pavillions! :(
Anyway...just keep paying your Council Tax because someone will benefit even if you don't!
On the subject of Teignmouth, and with reference to another thread concerning the number of new homes needing to be built, (see https://dawlish.com/thread/details/47463), whilst it is planned for Dawlish to have another 1000 or so new homes, in T'mouth the number is but 100.
