One fire engine from Dawlish, one from Teignmouth and a specialist rescue team from Exmouth were all sent to a report of a person in the brook next to the railway station.

On arrival crews were initially unable to locate the person and started searching the water upstream and downstream. The person was eventually located on the bank of the water and assisted to dry land by fire crews. The casualty was suffering from hypothermia and was seen to by paramedics on scene.
