Daw Vale Care Home closed back in 2015. There have since been 3 planning applications (in 2016,2017 and 2018) to develop the site but none of them came to anything. A fourth planning application was submitted in 2019 and it has now received planning permission for 18 houses to be built on the site.
Documents related to this Application are available here.
Delegated Decision
There is a posting on Eyes of Dawlish saying that this development is now not proceeding.
Anyone any info?
Seems like it's a bat issue. In the absence of anyone else living there - they decided to move in.
When bats are found they cost money to relocate and this can also delay demolition of buildings. All of which bring additional costs to the developer.
People have been on site today, and said demolition will be in 4/6 weeks, and the Bat man will be on site in 2 weeks. So the post on Eyes of Dawlish saying Bunny homes had pulled out can not be true
Seems there is demolition work taking place on this site at the moment. From looking at the planning documents it is Gould Homes South West who have a licence to remove the lesser horseshoe bats that have taken up residence there.
