Notices are up saying that the seawall walk (Footpath No 7 Dawlish from Colannade underpass to Black Bridge and Footpath No 10 the whole length of the path except access to Coastguard Cottages) will be closed from Monday 7th September to Sunday 7th March 2021.
This is to enable work on the new sea wall to take place.

Based on the rate of progress made on the first Phase that should read March 2022! First Phase already 9 months behind the original scheduled date for completion and they still haven't finished!
That's what happens when there are no penalties for finishing after the agreed contractual date. As, in my opinion, Dawlish, Teignbridge and Devon County council don't give a stuff how long it takes and the damage to what little is left of Dawlish's wellbeing.
It's sad to see how run down Dawlish has become over the last 15 years or so through the wanton ineptitude of the councils from local to county, but to continue to see rate increases when Dawlish has one of the highest in the U.k.

I don't get this. Network Fail's latest newsletter says the seawall path will be closed from 7 Sept for five days. What am I missing ?
@Daverc I think the bit of seawall path that will be closed for five days is the length that they have been working on for the past months but which they opened for the tourist season but then will close again in order to finish off the work. That's the bit that runs from the viaduct to Coryton Cove.
Then there is the next piece of the work running from the Colonnade (where the pigeons roost) up to Black Bridge which is what my opening post is referring to.
