I have been to the surgery twice over the last week or so and am aware they require you to wear a face covering when you go in the surgery.

The first visit last week I arrived on time and waited in the Q in the reception area, as directed, to be advised where to sit for my appt. I observed a builder working on the lift with no mask and one of the admin wandering around with no mask.

The second time I attended the 2 people in front of me in the Q for reception had no masks either and an admin person strolled through without a mask on.

It would seem if you do not wish to wear a face covering you don't need to as it is not enforced.

If they request people to wear a mask on entering then they should enforce it, but as to many of my dealings the surgery, in my opinion, is a bit of a shambles. I presume because they have far to many people on their books, ching ching, but do not have the capabilities to actually cater for so many people. Covid or not pretty bad show most of the time from my experiences.

@DEEDOODLE I had the same experience and find it quite frightening.

People who aren't using facemasks are just using their good old British cummins sense ie they'll do what they want irrespective of what the rules say they should do.

Well, I just hope that if anything happens to these non-compliant people, they blame themselves for not following the rules and don't start whingeing about it being everybody else's fault.

I wonder if everybody knows where to buy them.  Are they for sale in Boots or Lloyds, i have no idea as i buy everything online but maybe some folk don't have access to the internet.

Carer my point was that i know where to buy them as i dont use shops and havent for years the internet is my shop window, but there are folk out there who dont use the internet so where do they obtain face masks.

Well, those who don't use the internet had better hurry up and go out to the shops and buy facemasks as come July 24th we will all have to wear a mask when going into a shop.

I'm wondering  to myself how can you buy a mask in a shop post July 24th if you haven't got a mask to wear so that you can go into a shop to buy a mask?

According to this newspaper report, shop staff won't be expected to enforce the wearing of masks - that will be a job for the police.

Have also read that there are those who are objecting to being told to wear a mask. It should be up to them and all that. Reminds me of back in 1983 I think it was when the compulsory wearing of seat belts in cars was introduced. My mum and dad (and no doubt there were others) were in high dudgeon at being told they had to wear seat belts. That such legislation was introduced in order to help save their lives did not seem to matter. As far as they were concerned it should be up to them, as individuals, as to whether or not they wore seat belts. How dare the state tell them what to do! 

Wonder if we will get the same reaction to the wearing of face masks?      

I for one wont be wearing a face covering of any description as im not a muslim. This is a free country and this whole covid 19 crap is all about how governments can control their populations. If Boris told you to jump off Teignmouth pier to avoid catching a cold how many of you sheeples would do it

When deaths and infection rates were sky high and peaked a few months ago we were told face masks were of no or little benefit, now rates have fallen to a fraction of what they were we are suddenly being told masks are esssential.  None of this makes any sense.

Please don't forget folks that wearing a facemask isn't for your protection, it's to stop you passing on the virus to others (if you have it, of course).

The point is this virus has the potential to run riot and kill many thousands there is no human immunity to it and no cure. Infection rates are on the increase so now is the time for extra measures to hold the infection rate down, remember 40% of those infected show no symptons everyone should be wearing a mask.

And next comes compulsory vaccination...  We're being softened up.

I wonder if the reason we are now being told to wear masks now as opposed to some few weeks back is because of the very simple reason that more masks are available now.

Not so very long ago they were like gold dust.    

Would have been a bit nonsensical (although nothing new about that though) for the gov. to tell people to wear masks when quite simply demand would have far exceeded supply and also at that time masks were being prioritised for NHS and care home staff.  

True, but we don't have to wear proper masks from 24th, just some kind of face covering.

Absolute bullshit for one Im not Chinese so you cant blame me for it  and for another I dont really give a toss what you think. If your prepared to follow like a good little sheep thats your choice but dont try blaming those who are prepared to use their brains and think for themselves about something created as an act of biological warfare by a communist country, who's goal is to de-stabalise western ecconomies and in some cases riding entire countries of their elderly populations thus saving £millions in health care costs . Judging by the way Boris and our government have continually U turned over every aspect of responding to this so called virus any fool would be able to judge that there is no scientific knowledge of how to deal with it. The reason the Govt is gradually bringing in the wearing of facemasks is pretty obvious to anyone who has been following the pandemic globally, particularly focusing on the southern hemisphere going into winter.

In 6 to 8 weeks time, when the temperature starts to drop as autumn comes in, this virus is going to rip through this country like a hurricane (I was going to say tornado but it'll be on a much broader front than that). If we do nothing at all (i.e. facemasks, further lock-downs etc) the predictions are a further 1/4 million fatalities. It will peak sometime around Jan/Feb and decrease gradually until July 2021 which is when we can reasonably expect a vaccine.

This is why I am holding off using my 700 masks, respirators and other PPE for as long as I can - we're going to need them later.

I hope to God that a vaccine becomes available in Sept this year but by all accounts that is improbable.

so......we have to wear face masks when we go into shops but not if we go into pubs and restaurants. Indeed, we are positively being encouraged to eat out by way of the £10 discount presently being offered.  "Eat out to help out" is the mantra.

And the logic is? 

If we need to wear face masks in shops and on public transport then surely we need to wear face masks in all other enclosed areas. Offices for example? 

Oh come on FredBasset, That's not a very nice response to Carer. I take it you are one of those conspiracy theorists. I have often agreed many times with your post's and you have always made sense to me. But on this point of wearing masks, you are completely wrong. The wearing of a mask is to protect people such as yourself. There are many reports that have also stated that if you are wearing a mask it does give you 60% protection. Could you imagine the virus taking hold in our small town of Dawlish it would decimate the town. Also, you can get masks at Presents top of the Strand.

I wasn't aware we had to wear a Niqab Fredbasset, where did you get  that idea from?

Initially i would wear a p3 respirator and goggles when going to the supermarket eaxh fortnight, but the amount of stress that induced in me days before i actually shopped was terrifying.

looking at the info on the internet and the fact that the stats foir this virus have been poorly managed to include any and all deaths the last few months. i decided not to wear my ppe and emtionally felt a lot better for it. Although if someone coughs or sneezes anywhere near me i am off at speed.

Will i catch it, i dont know, but if i had to keep wearing that ppe i woulkd have surely had some significan mental/physical issues down the line.

If i have to wear a face covering for the supermarket i will, but it will be as loose and breathable as i can make it. To the extent that i cannot even feel it on my face.

To me there is an underlying agenda to this outbreak being used by governments. The eradication of physical currency makes it much easier for governments and financial institutions to control and track the floiw of money.

The shutting down of populated areas at a moments notice, lockdowns, no go areas etc.

The complusoy wearing of face coverings and the potential for being injected with who knows what.

Try standing back and looking at the whole picture....your privacy and freedom are slowly being stripped away and to a certain extent a lot of people are willing because of the fear of covid that the government and the media has rammed down our thoats the last few months.

PEOPLE YOU NEED TO WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE.
