Dawlish Discussion

The owners of a popular seaside cafe say they are 'heartbroken' after they've been forced by to cancel all of their outdoor events following the closure of the Dawlish sea wall.

Naomi said the decision has left her feeling really upset as they weren't even notified of the sea wall closure.

"There was a meeting with Teignbridge Council and Network Rail but they didn't communicate with us.  We never received a newsletter and then all of a sudden they closed off the wall.

Of course it is very sad for those that are loosing their livelyhood in such a dramatic way. But let us not forget it is for the benefit of the many, not the few. Sorry I have stolen the labour parties slogan, but it is a fact.

I don't understand why they can't just carry the equipment along the wall for events and maybe source some trolleys for heavy equipment. You can't always park near a venue you are playing at and so have to improvise, been there and done it 

Saw some pretty solid collapsible trolleys in asda newton Abbott that would fit the bill. They fold out into fair size 4 wheel trolleys with sides and then concertina to a smaller size when not needed. A couple of those might be the answer. Shame to seem them go.

And will Morris take the blame at a later date should anything untoward happen, because as she thinks, she may talk them out of doing what they want to do now. there could be a lot more people affected further down the line

As far as I am concerned she is a waste of space as is her staff, first you have to get past the staff before she will know what is going on, but what they tell you might be different from what she might do.

I shall wait with interest to see what the outcome of her talks with network rail will be.
