Anyone else heard anything about the new sea wall?
I was told by two workers that are working on the project, that the new wall will now be 1.5 mtr higher that planned and it will be a little further out than planned. Something to do with global warming with rising sea levels. So could it be that Network rail are preparing for the unknown?
If that's the case then won't Network Rail need new planning permission?
Letter has gone out from network rail to state the following:-
re dawlish seawall
they will be working 24 hours a day from now until they leave the site on wed 10 july.
the work entails preparing bedrock, delivery of concrete, pouring of concrete and grinding of excess concrete.
in other words they will be a pain in the arse for anyone living along that section of the front with dust, vibrations and noise from now until wednesday. although they say that they leave on the 10th they are actually still there until the 14th, but i assume not 24hrs - to reinstate the beach.

You have to take the rough with the smooth.
In the long run, it could end up saving their lives and property, and it's not like it's going to last forever.
After all, they have the trains running through there all day (Diesel pollution) and at times through the night as well.
The trains do not compare to the horrendous noise from the work on the wall! Yes, the work has to be done but the line isn’t breached, like it was in 2014, so there is no need to work all day and night. We should have at least two nights a week without any work so we can get a decent nights sleep! It’s all to do with profit margins and greed and they don’t give a dam about the impact on the lives of those living on Marine Parade.
Better putting up with noise 24/7 for a few months than getting flooded or losing your life.
