"Gammon is an insult aimed at white people, of course it is racist." - as racism is based on feeling your race is superior over another race I don't know how this can be racism. It is an insult.

Try using an insult that only applies to black people and see how long it takes PC Plod to come knocking on your door.

https://www.aol.co.uk/news/2019/04/09/waitrose-pulls-racist-easter-ducklings-from-shelves/  It looks as though anything can be racist even chocolate.

@leatash calling the black duck ugly and you can't see why that is wrong?

"Try using an insult that only applies to black people" yes, that would be racist.

No nothing at all, this country has gone mad and this pettiness breeds racism, sometimes i wonder if far right organisations bring these things to light to do exactly that.

We're talking about a chocolate duck for christ's sake.  The asteroid can't come soon enough.

@burneside and @leatash is blackface just makeup? Just wonder how far it goes before we decide that it is wrong.

"We're talking about a chocolate duck for christ's sake" why didn't they make the white duck the ugly one then? It was an insensitive decision. No one is saying the chocolate duck is a symbol of racism or those that created it are racist but they didn't think what it would be indicating.

There is implicit racial bias in a lot of our society as there is implicit homophobia/transphobia bias. Our history, recent history, plays a huge part in that.

Making 3 chocolate ducks and choosing the black one the ugly one is wrong. If you can't see that then your white privilege is stopping you from seeing it.

Here you can start to understand implicit racial bias with a few scholar articles (just read the abstracts, you don't need to purchase the full paper to understand the studies) https://scholar.google.co.uk/scholar?hl=en&as_sdt=0%2C5&as_vis=1&q=implicit racial bias&btnG=

Pardon me for having been born, grown up and worked in a white country.  I am so privileged and really don't deserve anything I have achieved.

"white country" says a lot about you @burneside

"I am so privileged and really don't deserve anything I have achieved." it has nothing to do with what you have achieved or deserve.

Let's hope for a very localised asteroid impact!

It's not pettiness. It would be interpreted the wrong way. Who in the US would know that Come On You Whites is a Fulham chant?
