Absolute disgrace in my opinion, I suppose they will say it was producing to many leaves or it's rotten.

That was the tree that used to have an argument with the tall fair vehicles, perhaps they had a say in the short back and sides.

They have bleeding cancer the estimate is there will be no Horse Chestnut trees left within 15 years. Thats none left in the country.

They might as well cut it down, not that I'm advocating that but it looks absolutely awful.

And thats what will happen in the next few years bleeding cancer slowly kills the tree amd pollarding will help extend its life by a few years.

It is called canker not cancer and the trees can have periods of remission and even recovery. In my opinion the large tree's are seen as a liability by those in charge and any excuse to chop them down and concrete over The Lawn for special projects.

I agree it looks unsightly atm, but this kind of pollarding is necessary to extend the tree's life.  It will grow again !
