There has been a problem with waste from the dredging at Exmouth Docks the dredger is dumping all the rubish a little to the right of Coryton Cove the beach at Teignmouth has been covered in a thick black sludge plus other waste.
Who is responsible for making the decision that all the waste from Exmouth dock is dumped over on this side of the estuary?
I was told on good authority that it was Teignmouth Town Council apparantly it's the River Teign dredger that is contracted to do the work.
The dredger "Mannin" had been picking up silt from Exmouth Marina and dumping it off Sprey Point in Teignmouth. Last weekend the beach at Teignmouth changed from red to black, causing deep concern. The Marine Management Organisation (MMO), a Government organisation, withdrew the licence from the Mannin to do this on Monday (or maybe Tuesday) after this was reported. In the meantime stormy seas returned Teignmouth beach from black to red. I have not been to Coryton Cove recently and don't know if this is the reason for anything happening there. The MMO has said that there will be no more dumping at Teignmouth until they have investigated it. If there is bad pollution in Coryton Cove, then the MMO are the people to tell.
The rumour is that the owner of some holiday flats in Exmouth also owns the Marina and had instigated this operation, however I can not substantiate that, so take it as you will.
