The rubbish left by drinkers is thrown over the fence by the bench that overlooks the train station car park.
This mess has apparently be in situ for some time. I have been in contact with Cllr Alison Foden about this matter and she has requested that I put the following on here:
"I have reported this load of rubbish numerous times since I noticed it last summer 2017 to the then DTC town clerk, asking that TDC be chased on this. I have repeatedly asked for more litter bins with lids near the benches there - Thompson's path through Lanherne - and for regular collections. I raised it in the list of actions which were reported after the CAC town centre audit last October.
The inadequate rubbish bin that is on Thompson’s Path is labelled TDC. I have been trying to get it sorted and the area cleaned up."
Does the land where the rubbish lies belong to Network Rail? Maybe someone needs to create an online petition?
Typical local council initiative to just pass the buck for over half a year and say Oh! it's not my problem its their's. Good old tax/rate payers money being well spent, I think not.
You could put 10 bins at the location and it still would not stop those commiting this lazy act of littering.
How about getting a 'working group' of criminals from one of our districts jails to go and clean it up. I'm sure they would like a day out and may be get a little shopping in at the same time.
Whether it is network rail or not it is in Dawlish and it paints a poor picture for locals and tourists alike. Whilst those paid to look after Dawlish and the surrounding area continue to do less whilst demanding more.
