Police have launched an investigation following allegations of a rape in Dawlish.
Police say the suspect is described as a white man aged between 35-45, 5ft 8ins in height and of stocky build.

A lot of rape victims withdraw there statements as the thought of a pending court case and facing there attacker is to daunting.
One thing we do know, if a man had actually been charged then his identity would have been plastered across the media, even before any guilt had been established.

I assume that Burneside (and the 3 blokes who agree with his comment) also believes that alleged murderers/paedophiles/terrorists should also remain anonymous until a judge or jury finds them guilty??
How do you know that three men agreed with me, or is that just your usual arrogance thinking you know it all? In the 70s & 80s both parties in sexual assault trials were granted anonymity, I can see no earthly reason why that law was scrapped. When it comes to judicial matters men are second class citizens, but then that suits the feminazis.
The point that I was making is that there have recently been a few high profile cases where the accused's name has been plastered across the media yet the accuser (who I might add fabricated the story) remains annonamous.

I believe the reason women are given anonymity is that a woman who is raped somehow and wrongly in my mind has a label atached to her, women who are raped get blamed for wearing the wrong clothes a typical term i have heard "she was asking for it". Hearing men talk about women i sometimes as a man feel embarrassed at the general comments they make, maybe its time for a shift change in general attitudes to women.
During the 70s & 80s parliament thought it right that the accused in sexual assault cases were granted anonymity, perhaps because those kind of allegations carry such huge social stigma that live with the accused for the rest of their lives, even if they are subsequently found innocent. And, of course, there are the serial rape fantasists out there:
And then we have the recent scandal surrounding the collapse of rape trials, because the police, by accident or design, withheld vital evidence. Quite rightly all “live” cases are now being re-examined, but how many men are now serving prison sentences because of the failings of the justice system. These are lives destroyed.
