We would normally have loads of postings about the Fair along the lines of, it shouldn't be on the Lawn, polution levels from all the generators etc etc. To be fair i have hardly noticed its there.
Seems like a lot of people were enjoying themselves when I went down there., not a bad thing.
May be it should be on the new play park????????? It will be interesting to see how much this new play park will be used and what it will be used for.
A few suggestions:- Start an event on anannual basis such as Glastonbury. Have mass wedding ceremonies everyfew months. Have dog shows and cat shows in the open air. Or even allow the druggies etc, use it unhindered once a week.
Are there any other suggested uses?
We have had party in the park a few years ago that was very successful but it was never repeated shame really it was a great night.
Majorp - the children's play park will be used by children (local and visitors) for them to play on...
Well since this post is about the fair, can I say that at 5am this morning while they were packing away, it was great to see them repairing areas of grass and picking up all litter from the lawn, really considerate and caring about how the area is left, fair play to Rowlands and Sons.
it it a shame @leatash. i've spent a few evenings in teignmouth at the music festivals on the back beach. fantastic atmosphere, shame this won't be an option for dawlish. it feels like go to teignmouth for fun, come to dawlish to die!
Will the local bus venture as far as this play park or will the park only be available to veichle owners and those brave enough to walk from Sainsburys to the park (dangerous stretch of road that is for walkers).
Thinking about the party in the park it was never run again because of problems with under age drinking i remember ambulances being called and the Police having to bring in extra officers to deal with the trouble.
I wonder why Dawlish has this problem and (it appears) Teignmouth doesn't? Is it because there's more things going on there and it's not a one off? Teignmouth was packed and I saw not one Police Officer.
If i remember correctly kids had to go to Hospital because of alcohol and there were serious injuries due to fighting and yes it always happens in Dawlish at any event there is trouble i wonder why??
flo, If the authorities can keep druggies and alchies in one place, it is fine by them, and I think I am right it saying, "Dawlish has been selected as one of those places". Where do they all come from and is there anything to attract them here, or were they put here. I am told there is a lot of shop lifting going on, maybe that is one of the attractions.
Majorp - are you confusing the proposed play park on the Lawn, with the actual Countryside Park near Cofton?
Majorp has a good point. Dawlish is far too welcoming a place for such people. They can pitch a tent on the hill above Coryton for the night or sleep in one of the shelters up there unhindered, wake up to one of the finest views in England, wander down to do the 'three Ss' in the public toilets on the lawn, where needle dispensers are conveniently provided, then meet up in the Happy Hut for a day of anti-social antics. At the end of the day, there's a nice feed to be had from the leftovers at local food shops. Due to the town's one-way system, they even get an early warning system when the cops drive up the left hand side of the Lawn, giving them chance to disperse or hide illegal items as the cop car makes it's way round the loop. Think about it, it couldn't be more ideal!
Diana Mond, I did mention early on in this debate - the new play park, perhaps I should have said "countryside park near cofton" They are both play areas as far as I am concerned.
How much of the issues we have had with undesireables in town could possibly be related to the reported town manager's attitude towards police in town?
The problems with drink and drugs in the happy hut are not new this has been going on for 20 years.
