I am surprised that there has not been a postings on the carnival. I missed it last year but thought this years carnival was great thoroughly enjoyed the parade well done to all who organised it.
I am also very surprised and no photos, I was away last week.
Please has anyone have photos to put up.
It was very good, a good week overall, growing from strenght to strenght. Well done to all those involved.
Not me! I heard heard many different acounts, most were not very complimentary. Different things please different people.
Oh please this thread is so predictable. Stand by ZiggyDeedoodle with pics of Carnival. (Saw you there with your camera) Lovely pics, lovely Carnival.
@Gloria, if you are trying to imply ziggy & deedoodle are the same person then you are wrong.
Also, I don't understand why you have an issue with users posting photos on this site. That is the whole point of having the image button on the forum.
For various reasons I couldn't see the procession on Friday but have seen it on the facebook page - looked great.
Having spoken to someone on the committee it's interesting to note how few councillors went to any of the activities and that the town centre manager was also absent all week
@Gloria, oh how i wish i had a camera like deedoodles and maybe my pics would be has good as (his/hers)
Unfortunately, I was away for most of the week and so missed the events but was back in time for the parade on Friday. Thought it was shorter than it has been in recent years but not too sorry about that as it was pretty draughty standing in Old Town St. Specially enjoyed the 'Rampage Mas' floats and dancers which brought a touch of the exotic to a dismal English summer. A lot of work goes into organising Carnival and I think the people who put time and effort in all year round are to be commended.
oh my not only has this thread gone way from the topic that it was created for, we find that the @webmaster is joining in on the bickering path, let's not encourage it and get involved in it mr webmaster. may i suggest, if you are a dawlish person and care for the town that are within, why not create your own user account, rather than posting the likes of such under the webmaster title. to assume that @Gloria was "possibly implying" something, you are in effect making an assumption to the case and accusing. let's not.
I notice allot saying that the Parade was short and too many gaps. Well the gaps can be easily solved, however the entrants that come to the town all do fantastic, and unfortunatley, one thing the Committee can't address is how many turn up to partake on the day. I think thought once it's continued to build up, the parade will become colourful, long and entertaining even more than it was last and this year.
@TheObserver, I'm preventing bickering, not joining in on it. Flaming other members with the apparent intent of inciting or perpetuating a conflict or argument is against the terms. It always has been.
@webmaster, certainly didn't come across that way, now if you're dawlish born and bred, or even from the town, you'll know like me the town is built on the bickering foundation trust. no one will win there i'm afraid. but my points and observation still stands, more so this is a thread about the carnival week just gone, not much about it yet....
