There are now potentially quite a few issues concerning retiring to sunnier southern europe  (and before anyone tells me that nothing has been sorted out yet - I know that! - I am just flagging up some points to bear in mind).

I've been thinking about posting about this for some time. This newspaper article has just prompted me to do so.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/british-pensioners-rushing-to-settle-move-eu-countries-ahead-of-brexit-france-spain-portugal-a7891606.html

So if you know of anyone already retired to, for example, Spain, or know of anyone thinking of retiring to Spain or any other EU country it might be an idea to bring the matters raised to their attention.

I know of a couple, both in their 60s, both of whom I understand voted Leave in the referendum.

They are now thinking of relocating to Spain.

You "understand" they voted Leave, and are "thinking" of relocating to Spain.,  It all sounds rather vague, doesn't it?

I "understand" they voted Leave because that is how they said they intended voting. As I was not in the voting booth to witness how they actually voted I cannot say that I know for a fact how they voted. I chose my wording quite deliberately. No doubt had I said I know a couple who voted Leave in the referendum someone would no doubt have asked me how I knew for an absolute certainty how they voted given that we vote in secret.

I also used the expression "thinking" with regard to their relocating to Spain because that is what they are doing at the moment - thinking about it.

Vague or not - I view how I understand they voted and what they are now thinking of doing as mind boggling hypocrisy.

I dont understand your thinking just because they voted leave has no bearing on them wanting or thinking of going to Spain. The difference with some EU countries and the UK is we follow every piece of legisltion that oozes from Brussels and yet some EU members seem to ignore half of the rules.  On the other hand i wouldn't move to any country in Europe if you paid me or any place else in the world we live in a great country so why move.

They voted Leave so that this country would leave the EU but now they are thinking of moving to a country that is within the EU.

It is their thinking that I don't understand.
