Drunks swearing shouting being aggresive and vile by Mollie Macs yesterday afternoon. Oh how the tourists must be impressed by our lovely town. WHEN WILL SOMETHING BE DONE ABOUT THEM. I was told that the town mnager doesn't want a police precence in the town as it gives tourists the wrong impression. Get a life love and start thinking about the residents. As far as I can see, it's a public place and the police have a duty to maintain the Queen's Peace. What the "Town Manager" thinks about police presence should have naff all to do with it!!!
May be the town manager needs replacing if this a reflection of their attitude towards public order issues within Dawlish.
They seem to be OK with prohibition notices around the town displaying to the visitors that we have an issue with public order in and around the town.
No wonder Dawlish is going to the dogs with this type of management.
Every Thursday, Friday Saturday nights the residents in the town centre have to put up with adults and kids causing mayhem untill 2 or 3 am and i for one am sick to the teeth with it. So maybe the Town Centre Manager would like to swop houses for the next 4 or 5 weeks so i can get some sleep.
If that what has come from the Town Centre manager I'd like to hear what she thinks from herself, because thats unacceptable to say that if it is the case. Police being seen and visable is a bonus, and at the end of the day, drunken behaviour, whether toruist season or not, when it becomes rude, unacceptable and uncalled for, then it's unwanted in Dawlish, or any town for that matter.
So then I call for the Town Centre Manager, Tracey Scrannage, if anyone here know's her personally, to write to the Gazette and explain this matter, I doubt she will.
I know someone who contacted her. Her reply was the responsibility of the lawn and who is on it is TDC. I am sorry I cannot be of much more assistance. I have personally voiced my own opinion at a recent meeting. And my main priority is tourism and getting visitors into the town and I agreed with others that it's not a look we wish to encourage, we might know that they are there as a deterrant but visitors would think we have a major incident and may put them off from coming to Dawlish again.
I doubt one van would be seen as a major incident. Would she rather they see swearing drunken fornicating rabble or a police van. Ludicrous. Also two thefts from local shops by a con man. Would he have committed his offences if ther was a police presence. I see her job is to go next year ant the local council want us to fund her. Outrageous.
She'll be gone by next year so one less thing to worry about.
