What delights there were to see. The D.D&D.C were squatting by the entrance to the disabled toilet, next to the tourist info centre. One member was emptying his stomach contents by the entrance to the w.c. Whilst 2 more were passed out on the grass verge opposite.
What a beautiful setting for those on holiday down here.Not only that, but there was a police car parked just up from the Co Op, but no police in sight!
Apalling, I'm too nervous to walk with my dog anywhere near there. On a lovely evening it would be nice to walk to the sea across the lawns, and not have to go on the pavement across the road. Why is the town manager still crowing that everything is under control. it is a joke.

Where it's good to have a forum where you can vent and get it of your chest and i suppose it helps somewhat but the problem is still here and will be unless you take my advice on the other thread of who to contact. Send those emails don't just talk about it do something. Our only two PCSO's go off duty at 10pm.
The happy hut group started forming at 9am this morning and has grown by 10:30am. I have just called the Dawlish Council Offices to make a complaint but was told it's nothing to do with Dawlish Council you have to call Teignbridge Council. What a load of BS. Ok then here we go with another round of emails.
Brookllyn Bridge you are so right. Can I please make another suggestion, on top of sending emails, at the time (if you have a phone) dial 101 non emergency police and report exactly what you have seen as anti sociable behaviour. Make sure that you get a message reference number, then mention it in the emails that you send as referenced above. Only by continually reporting such disgusting behaviour can we demand the attention of the authorities that we deserve. A sad state of affairs, we should not have to do this, the police should be there already, but if we complain officially every single time we see it, hopefully the authorities should take notice.

Vicks, the infomation above is correct I have already had email from Mr Ross. Just so you know that all the calls to the 101 number is logged and the police read them the next morning. We have an opportunity to really raise our concerns here in Dawlish, so get sending those emails. By the way Vicks I have an account with the 101 number they know me by name as I call a lot and I like to listen to their excuses as to why it does not warrant a car to be dispatched.
NEWS FLASH !!!! Couple on the Lawn having SEX 5:30pm this evening near the happy huts. People were taking photos and videos and a large crowd viewed the whole thing. The police arrived I think from Inverness spoke to this couple and just let them walk off, mind you the woman had a hard time to walk as she was either drunk or stoned. But the cops did nothing I mean NOTHING to the amazement of the watching crowd.
It strikes me Devon and cornwall police are just lazy, they don't want the paperwork. My niece works for the Met and she is astounded at the lack o.f arrests for various offences here. She said any pub in London that had a pub like the Landsdowne would have it's licence revoked or curtailed. I find it odd that no matter how many complaints there are to the council licensing people they do nothing. It would be nice to have an uninterupted nights sleep at the weekend. I do't know what has happened to Dawlish it has changed beyond belief .
Brooklyn Bridge, I like your style with the 101 number!! Regarding the incident that you described afterwards, if indeed the police did nothing, then it looks like a possible complaint of Neglect of Duty could be appropriate. A lot might depend on what the officers witnessed, but if there were witnesses willing to make statements, then the couple should have been arrested, at the very least under the Public Order Act. Also, if the woman was unable to care for herself due to her state of inebriation, then the police have a duty to look after her. Another point is that if she was in such a state, did she really consent to sex? Both their details should have been taken, with a view to investigating this properly. From what you have described, it sounds like an unprofessional response from Devon and Cornwall's finest, which should be looked at. The whole incident should have been recorded on police log, and the officers involved would have had to explain their actions. It is not too late to lodge an official complaint. If the officers don't do their duty properly, then they should be made to answer for it. Lack of resources is not a valid excuse.
This sordid behaviour does nothing for Dawlish's reputation as a 'family friendly' town. Why all the talk about a play park when the last thing you want is the kids witnessing this kind of thing.
Perhaps someone could request this issue be an agenda item at the next full town council meeting. Publicise the fact it is on the agenda to get as many people to attend as possible in order to put their views forward at the meeting. The same thing happened when there was the proposal for the hideous slug on the lawn and people power had a big impact. Our town councillors should be doing far more to resolve the issues, they need to be held to account.

From reading the above document it would seem that it is at the discretion of the officer(s) whether to arrest/fpn the offender(s).
So the protection order would seem to be rather ineffectual at stopping offender's if the police are merely going to send them on their way. May as well take the signs down as they are not stopping these activities and have a negative effect on tourist's seeing these signs on entering The Lawn.
What a joy the D.D&D.C where in their little reserved shelter on The Lawn this afternoon with their 2/3 litre bottles of cider on display, that is 2 to 3 litre not two thirds of a litre. What a lovely picture that paints of Dawlish as the visitor's were walking passed to the beach, sigh!

I agree with all you say. In fact a couple of weeks ago on a Sunday there was a some sort of official gathering may have been the British Legion and put a flag up the pole. But the interesting thing was the was the Mayor along with other dignitaries holding a service with the drinking and drugs club sat there in the background.
It would have been more interesting if The Mayor had been sitting with them, enjoying a spliff and a can of Special Brew.
