Being a warren resident I am daily being forced to take evasive manouvers to avoid oncoming traffic driving in the middle of the road as to the unaware it is not a one way road , it is actually a two way cycle path to which cars are supposed to use the single carraigeway to battle it out. The safe havens for pedestrians have also been removed .
i pray no lives are lost this year on this thing they call a road.
Residents of the Warren need to write en-mass to the Department of Transport to object and report the road as now being unfit for purpose and dangerous. If investigation concludes that DCC made the changes without first submitting plans and an application for a TRO then our local council need to take legal action. It is still an offence to obstruct the Queens highway. The offence not only applies to parking etc, but also to speed humps, barriers and all other unauthorised non-emergency obstructions
Unfortunatly there will be casualties during the holiday season because the new layout gives the impression that its now pedestrianised and closed to traffic. Tradgically its likely to be a child thats involved
I am absolutly sure Fred is right but can someone tell me where this is this happening? I will go and have a look tomorrow.
It's Warren road ,its especially dangerous if you turn left at the new roundabout as you naturally follow the white lines and end up in the middle of the road
The following FIO request has now been made. Seems the councillor responsible for all this cycle path nonsense is Stuart Huges cabinet member for highway management. DCC and Representing Sidmouth and Sidforth. Wonder if he has actualy ever been to Dawlish.
Please provide copies of or reference numbers of all TROs traffic road orders granted by the Governments Department of Transport. Relating to every linear metre of cycle path recently constructed 2014 to present day, along the route of the A379 Exeter Road, Piermont Place, Richmond Place. Dawlish and Mount Pleasant Road, Warren Road. Dawlish Warren. Where the original running road widths have been reduced or altered from their previous or original design.
I/We require this information as it seems none or inadequate traffic surveys and risk assessments have or were carried out at certain locations along the two routes resulting in aspects of obstruction of the highway and or areas becoming dangerous and unfit for purpose.
The orders can be viewed online so they may just direct you here https://new.devon.gov.uk/roadsandtransport/parking/traffic-regulation-orders/
