So 150 responses eh of which only 71% are in favour of cycling as their chosen transport method through and around Dawlish. That really is an oustanding response from around 14,000 local residents and of course gives the idiot councillors concered the green light to waste even more tax payers money, and cause more damage and disruption to the town in general. The whole scheme is a total waste of time based on unfounded claims of increased business and trade for Dawlish, the idea that school children will cycle to school even though the majority have trouble getting up in a morning, Plus the biggest laugh of all the expectation that the lycra clad loonies will actually use the path provided. Its just a complete hairbrained scheme supported by a certain number of publicity seeking civil servants that should have been put out to graze years ago.
Councillors get real put the money into upgrading the A379 and improving the public transport network with or without Stagecoach who now claim the hop 2 bus service unviable.
They are calling it wait for it THE DAWLISH LINK they make it sound as though we have been cut of for the past 100 years.
Well we haven't been cut off for the last 100 years, well, except for four months in 2014, but the way things are going with the buses and trains we WILL be cut off! What are the district councillors doing about all of this...........not a lot from the deafening silence from them!
Just wondered if anyone is going to do anything to stop this abhorrent waste of public money at a time when bus and train services are having to be cut and our main road in and out of town is rapidly becoming unfit for purpose. How can a scheme with so little local intrest even be considered 150 attendancies at a public meeting of which 30% went to object. Come on local businesses this is just going to cause more disruption in the town and will do nothing to increase trade, in fact it will have the opposite effect. Devon County Council have just admitted they didnt carry out a modelling excersie of traffic flow before narrowing the main road around the Elm Grove Road junction, so how can they be expected to have the competence to carry out anything else related to transport in Dawlish. We urgently need a independant Action For Transport group locally to ensure the councils actually stick to the law regarding roads etc, because in the past they have a poor record on this.
