Dawlish rail line was devastated a few years ago during winter storms. Has the Government done enough to prevent it happening again?

In my opinion, the railway collapse at Dawlish was purely down to the railway companies lack of maintenance to the sea wall. You only have to walk along the beach from Dawlish to the Warren to see large, deep cracks and base sections of concrete that have worn away along the sea wall below the railway line.

British rail was not purchased by private companies to make a better and more reliable service for those that use the service ( in the West Country at least), but to squeeze as much profit and dividends out of it with putting the least amount of money into it......aka BHS as an example.

If we have severe storms and battering waves this year something is likely to go, but the section at Dawlish which WAS repaired will most probably out live the pyramids in Egypt/
