Theres a series on BBC Breakfast TV about how coastal towns are moving away from their 50s and 60s past - councillors should watch and learn.

The big hotels all shut down in Dawlish (and there were some rather good ones). Where can people stay now - just Marine Parade? There should be a strategy of attracting hotel investment, otherwise day-trippers are the sole target.
Dawlish has got many innate advantages over neighbouring towns - its far nicer than Teignmouth, Starcross is basically a joke town.
