Cue letters to the papers; and maybe posts on here; on social websites: demanding a cull of the 'vicious seagulls' - all for trying to defend their babies.
Seriously, folks, do take a bit of care. They can, and do, attack you, even your children and dogs, if they see you as a threat to their squeaking brown monsters. It's just nature. It doesn't take much to beat them off, just a brandished newspaper will do.
