Frustration is mounting about the lack of Government support for Devon and Cornwall rail improvements, as ministers pledge billions of pounds for schemes in London.
Exeter MP Ben Bradshaw said it was becoming "crystal clear" that the Government has "absolutely no intention of keeping its promises on rail investment in the South West".
Responding to the concerns, rail minister Claire Perry stressed the Government has already invested more than £400 million in rail across the wider South West, "improving journeys for passengers and boosting the local economy".
"This includes resignalling the mainline from Totnes to Penzance, electrifying the Great Western Main Line, refurbishing the Cornwall sleeper, £35m to repair the tracks at Dawlish, a brand new station at Newcourt and a fleet of brand new intercity trains for Devon and Cornwall," she said.
