Over the past three weeks there have been a number of kids and adults alike that have slipped of the sea wall last one was yesterday when a child of about 10 years old slipped and fell down the sea wall. Luckely the father was a doctor but nevertheless emergency service's were called. My question is why and when these railing were removed perhaps decades ago. Who is responsible is it local council or network rail?

Thanks.

If you fall off the sea wall, then the only person responsible is yourself or if its a child then the parents. Its clearly dangerous with the railway one side and a big drop the other.

Whats wrong with people these days always looking to blame someone else. Watch where your going and what your doing, and teach your kids likewise.

They could have been removed during WW2 as railings all over the country had to be given for the war effort they would be melted to make tanks, guns etc etc thats why you often you see low walls outside houses with rail holes that have never been replaced.  Fred is correct a child of 10 with parents should in a dangerous area like the sea wall should be under control i blame the parents my kids never fell off and we have walked the sea wall hundreds of times.

A little research and here is the answer.

There never was a handrail the holes you see were drilled through the stone blocks and filled with molten metal to hold them together. The Sea Wall as we know it now was not built for folk to walk along but for railway maintainance but over the years with the onset of the tourist it became a walkway or footway and is now all owned by Network Rail.

In my own opinion the last few generations have been breeding more stupid, ignorant, arrogant, self centre humans.

The lack of an enforceable punishment system in most schools over the last 3 decades has produced, in general, a rather odius, ferile and self absorbed population.

Everyday I see people going about there business thinking that everyone else should be looking out for them. To many stupid people with little or no common sense.

It's no wonder they fall off the wall.
