IT looked like a massive foam party at Dawlish last night – after stormy seas caused large amounts of 'spume' on the sea front.
Experts say sea foam, or spume, is caused by rough seas. Seawater contains dissolved salts, proteins, fats, dead algae, and other bits of organic matter. If you shake this glass of water from the sea, bubbles will form on the surface of the liquid. This is how sea foam is formed, but on a much grander scale.
