Why would someone who stood for Dawlish Town Council as a nailed-to-the-mast Lib Dem, then state that politics should be kept out of that level of democracy?  If Gary Taylor truly believed that, as per his letter in the Gazette, then why didn't he stand for the Town Council as an Independent candidate?

Maybe because he is a sensible guy?

Why does doing one thing and then saying another make him sensible?

Ask the Conservative Councillors who have also said for many years that politics should be kept out of that level of democracy! I know, I listened to it for the last four years! Did you?

I was told by a Tory town councillor that I should vote for the person and not the party at local level. I also suggested they run as an independent.

They talked about themselves a lot, talked ill of others, moaned about young people today, said they were a capitalist, explained that they voted Tory because their father had and that is how they were brought up (so no really thought or critical enquiry involved at all) and had no idea that some people are unemployed and in poverty because there are not enough jobs that pay a living wage.

And they think it's possible to separate the individual from the party?
