Question: Would you vote for and support the Assisted Dying Bill? http://www.dignityindying.org.uk/assisted-dying/lord-falconers-assisted-dying-bill/
Lib Dem candidate: No. But there are issues concerning the care of the dying that we need to address. People should have living wills and appropriate pain relief.
Trade Union and Socialist Coalition candidate: A friend has just died. He left hospital and went home to die. Things need to b watched very carefully especially with all the underfunding of the NHS. People must not be left dying in the corridors.
Green Party candidate: Can’t really comment on the Bill as hasn’t read it. But would sign the Bill to allow people to die with dignity if a free vote. Would like the option for himself so he would like it for others. Dying with dignity is okay in other countries so why not in this one as well?
UKIP candidate: UKIP has no plans to support euthanasia or assisted dying. But it is a very complicated issue. UKIP has no plans to support this Bill.
Labour candidate: Not read the Bill. Saw his own mother die of cancer. She was a nurse so knew what to do. But it is a very difficult situation. It should be up to the individual.
Conservative candidate: Yes I would support the Bill. Met with Terry Pratchett before he died. It is possible to put into place with adequate protection.
