A second community action day in the Teignbridge district has been hailed a great success by its organisers. They say the community action day in Dawlish on Wednesday proved a great success and received a positive response from local residents. Community Action Days are designed to provide fire safety and crime reduction advice to local residents as well as address litter issues that could potentially present a fire hazard or eyesore. Representatives of the partnership agencies involved in its organisation visited 380 homes and handed out information packs. The agencies included Teignbridge Council, Devon Fire and Rescue Service, Devon and Cornwall Police, the Arson Task Force, Teign Housing and the Probation Service. The action day took place during Domestic Violence Awareness Week and the event aimed to highlight some of the issues involved in domestic violence. The first action day was held on the Buckland estate in Newton Abbot in June. The latest community action day covered various areas of Dawlish including First to Third Avenue, Churchill Avenue and Coronation Avenue. A further event will be hosted at Dawlish Fire Station from 6pm to 8pm on Monday, enabling local residents to speak personally to their local councillor, local community police officer, local fire officer and community safety wardens.
