Smell dogs candidate's day
The March 6 city council by-elections became somewhat odorous yesterday when dog excrement was flung at a Thai Rak Thai candidate while she was campaigning in Bangkok Yai district.
The contender, Thipprapa Sukboon, Thai Rak Thai MP Mana Khongwut, and five aides, were on the back of a pick-up truck in Soi Phetkasem 15 when the assailant struck. The aim was good and dog dung splattered over them and the truck.
They suspected political rivals were behind the incident.
Pol Col Songpoom Prapanon, superintendent of Tha Phra police station, said investigators would try to determine if the bag was thrown from a building or from behind the truck _ and the motive.
The offender, if caught, could be charged with endangering others, attacking people and property with waste material and humiliating others in public.
The maximum penalty was one month in jail and a 1,000 baht fine, he said.
