just had a first class meal at the ugly duckling would like to see a bit more choice for us veggies where did the name ugly duckling come from does anyone know

I think the 'Ugly Ducking' name came from the fable by Hans Christian Anderson. I.e ugly duckling growing into a beautiful swan & Dawlish being associated with swans.

Clever! I must say I am impressed with the decor of the Ugly Duckling - it gives The Strand a much needed lift. Bow Windows take note!

There once was an ugly duckling,
with feathers all fluffy and brown.
The other birds in so many words said,
'quack, get outta town'
'quack quack, get out, quack quack get out, quack quack, get out of town'
So he went with a quack, and a waddle and a quack, and a very unhappy frown.

Surprised people need to ask the source of this. Its not Nietzche.
