Just thought I would bring this purdah period to the attention of all given as we have not only a general election on May 7th but also district and town council elections.

My somewhat cynical take on this purdah period is that it gives not only MPs and councillors but also civil servants/local government offices an excu, sorry I mean a reason, for not responding to enquiries, or for being even more obfuscative than they usually are.

So, my point is, that if you want to stand any chance of having any queries answered (especially 'difficult' ones) then you'd better contact TDC, your councillors, MP now cos I don't know about the rest of you but there does seem to be an inordinate delay quite often between my sending off an e-mail and my getting a response (and sometimes I don't get a response at all).

TDC are supposed to acknowledge an e-mail enquiry within three working days of receiving it and to give a full response no later than 20 working days. I don't know about the rest of you but I don't always get that service..........(might be something to do with the questions I ask pehaps?).

Anyway today is the 13th Feb. They will all go into purdah come the end of March. From that time until after May 7th they have the perfect excuse not to respond.

How many working days is it from now to the end of March?
