Dawlish station is now OPEN. I spoke to Mr Chorley from FGW. Station was closed for safety checks on the Canopy. They are now satisfied there is no damage, and the station is re-open. Disruption to Dawlish passengers, but no effect on the wider service as trains continued to run through all day. Important we make that clear otherwise people will claim this as evidence for Dawlish line to be removed inland.

We need to avoid the media story becoming unchallenged that Dawlish is "the problem". Please Dawlish people challenge when you see this happening !

BBC Spotlight this lunchtime reported the station was closed.

WRONG.

So the moral of the story is..........do not necessarily believe everything you see, read or hear in or from the media (and like Michael says - when you know they are telling it incorrectly - tell 'em!)

Slightly off topic, but did anyone see the idiot cycling along the seawall during the report?!

Yes!

Suspect same story or a version of that story will be on again this evening so they may run the same film footage again.

Wonder if anyone will own up to being that cyclist?
