Amy Goldup (19) and her partner Billy-Ray Marks (22) both of Richards Close, Dawlish pleaded guilty at Torquay Magistrates Court on 29th October to charges relating to the selling counterfeit goods via Facebook, following an investigation by Devon & Somerset Trading Standards Service.

What a lot of old tosh 'Counterfeiting is illegal and takes custom away from legitimate local traders'. 1)what local traders sell Raybans and Rolex watches!, 2) they advertised the items as replicas, 3) How a tiny fraction of the cost of the real thing is denting the pockets of the genuine manufacturers.
What trading standards need todo is pull their finger out and sort out all the dodgey cowboy builders with the same zeal, not that that is likely to happen. To much work involved I would suspect.
Given these fake UGG boots are made from Dog skin and raccon skin that is ripped from them whilst still alive.
There is a very good reason for clamping down on them.
Those that bought them, hope you are not an animal lover, you now have a pair of skinned alive dog skin boots from China...

1) There will be many local traders selling these products, doesn't just mean local to you.
2) Doesn't matter as it still doesn't make it leagal. You couldn't sell pirated DVD's just because you told your customers they were fakes.
3)As people will buy these and not the genuine product, leading to a loss of sales. Don't forget that these companies have to pay all the costs of marketing, product design etc. The quality of counterfit products are normally far inferior to the genuine product, this poor quality may give the brand a bad reputation.
There is no excuss for this. I'm not having a go at the couple that did this as they are young and probably didn't know the implications of performing these acts, but others trying to excuse the behaviour and acting like it's nothing is just silly.
