I see the artist generally known as Mike Nance has set up camp outside Sainsburys canvassing support for Dawlish to adopt his 17ft masterpiece 'Statue of Happiness'. Apparently 80% of people are supportive (or maybe the patients from Langdon are out on a group shopping excursion). Will Cllr Swift assure us that she will chain herself to Geronimo's downpipe should the council even consider listing this for discussion.

I personally think that Verity is amazing. Unlike Mick Nance's "Statue of Vanity". Hopefully Mjcrpc is right about our councillors laughing Mr Nance's proposal out of court.

Can't abide that Verity statue in Ifracombe.
The trouble with this proposed statue is that the artist isn't famous enough for it to become a draw, it will just become an eyesore.
I find myself agreeing with JC here. Verity is a work of art because it is a one off, challenging, striking and is apparently a 'modern allegory about truth and justice'.
The 'mermaid' (wot no tail?) is let's just say, ...well... it just looks like something fom the garden centre ...but oversized.
Suggest you may actually get several hundred pounds for it down there.
At best try putting it in a 'one horse village' or maybe somewhere with 'Stepford Wives' - it would be perfect there.
Please
