STAFF at a South Devon holiday park took customer care to new limits when they delivered a baby.
Distressed holidaymaker Leanne Barnes arrived at the Welcome Holiday Park in Dawlish Warren and immediately went into labour.
She had no idea she was pregnant and no time to get to a hospital.
Undaunted by the emergency staff members Kathryn Hammett and Rachel Addison went into action.
With the help of instructions from the 999 call centre Kathryn, who had a first aid course qualification to her name, was able to deliver the baby girl from a breach position.
Then, with the child struggling to breathe, lifeguard supervisor Keith Mason stepped in to give it CPR.
Kathryn said “The baby was gasping and wasn’t able to breath.
“I rubbed her tummy to try and revive her”.
Mum and child are now doing fine. The baby has been named Carly.
