The Red Rock Cafe has re-opened again after the storms and Network Rail forgot to tell the owners that the walkway was open again. So they lost money In passing trade. NR have said sorry for any lack of communication and are looking at their claim for compensation. Spotlight to-night will have the story, do not know time as football is in extra time(again).
Really great they are open again! They have had a really tough time since February through no fault of their own.
I agree with Burneside and do hope they now take you to court for the accusations you have made. Where is your evidence? I have taken a copy of your post and will be happy to provide the Red Rock people with a copy should they wish to take further action.
@Mrs C/Judith Chalmers
I am glad a screenshot was taken of your original post, should it be required as evidence in the future.
Good news and good luck to them!
Why is it called 'Red Rock Cafe' when it's located under Langstone Rock? Red Rock is at Boat Cove. This could be why people were getting confused between 'Red Rock Cafe' and 'Rock Pool Cafe' at Coryton Cove on another thread.
Langstone Rock IS Red Rock, as far as locals are concerned. The rock at Boat Cove is Cowhead Rock or something like that, I believe.
Absolutely agree HuwMatthews2, the people at Red Rock cafe work so hard seven days a week all year round (until the storm damage closed the footpath) they deserve a bit of luck, not a slagging off from Mrs C.
Lived in Dawlish all my life (and 2 generations before me). Red Rock is at Boat Cove (see Gazette 'Then and Now' pic from a few weeks ago for historical naming).
It does seem to have become blurred since the 60s/70s - perhaps we should resolve it once and for all so that local history/geography doesn't become distorted for future generations of Dawlishians!
Margaret, I'm glad you decided to delete the end of your last post as it was an ill disguised and inappropriate swipe at Michael Clayson. In my opinion he's been a discreet and constructive contributor to this forum and I don't like to see it become a battleground for petty politics.
How long the cafe has been there? Maybe its name has contributed to the confusion. There doesn't appear to be an official Red Rock at all. http://www.southwestcoastpath.com/media/walk_images/100/808306c2f71189563a830993867a8e11/walk_100.png
OK HuwMatthews2, I'm not a native so you know better than I do.
Red Rock is not a good name anyway, on a coast made of red sandstone !
