In a couple of months time we would be inerested in employing a semi retired part time carpenter/builder
We could offer work for at least the next 4 years all year round.
Part time between 2 and 4 days a week to suit you.
We can be very flexable and understanding (holidays, other commitments)
Pay = arguable, oops I mean negotiable, sense of humour helpful
Must be willing to cut grass/gardening as well
semi retired at least 4 years work he will be dead by then......................... get someone young for Gods sake.
I'm old school, I like to work with people that want to do a job once and do it right, we have always had someone in their last 10 years of working life on this occassion it suits me to have someone that will potter but potter to a really good standard, I haven't got the time to teach someone. If all else fails we will take an apprentice that way I can teach them from the start. In our previous business our average employee was 9 years, I'm concerned about taking an apprentice as it will mean them working away and in 5 years time possibly needing to move with us to our next project. Finding the right person for this scenario may be somewhat difficult.
I have a 20 year old son whom has followed my footsteps in the building trade, I wouldn't employee him nor would I allow him to do any work on any of my property

I'm Surprised at the amout of talent currently not being used.
Why are you surprised? 15 years ago the huge blue chip company with head offices in Switzerland that I worked for at the time issued a memo to all HR personel asking them not to actively persue employing new staff over the age of 40.
If you dont think thats normal and your in the late 40s 50s bracket try appling for skilled trade or management jobs with major companies and see what response you get.
Nine out of ten wont even answer your application.
The only way for folk of that age group to earn a half decent wage especially in this neck of the woods is to have three or four part time jobs with some cash in hand and work all the hours god sends.

I like knowledge & experience a 25 year old most likely hasn't got either if they have I'd need to pay them a lot of money
