Can anyone explain why as soon as it's holiday time the roads are jammed up. This morning trying to get to Sandy Lane and the traffic was back down Exeter Hill and right back along the Strand. All that could be seen were some guys from a parked white van (causing its own obstruction) doing something by the end of High Street, near the garage. It's bad enough that Exeter Road has traffic lights but we know they are there for a purpose. It doesn't make a very good impression when we are trying to attract visitors back to the town. Managed to avoid it on the way back by using Stockton Hill but Strand Hill still out of action for the foreseeable future. Maybe Michael Clayson could enlighten us.
I was held up in all that but it was only 15mins folk who come here are used to spending hours driving a few miles London Birmingham Manchester they have JAMS what we have here is a slight delay.
@leatash - a good car journey within g.london is one that averages 10mph. just hoping my hst to devon behaves tomorrow and betters the 'car rush'.
Well said Roberta. The only slight hold up today in Dawlish was of course for the works on Exeter Road.
It always amazes me why people have so little patience - when they move to Devon they should realise that life is a little slower - and is all the better for it.
...and hurrah for a sane pace of life. The universal problem with car jams is all the 'other people' who use their cars far too much
My, all these agendas flying about the place. It was just a simple question about what was holding up the traffic at that particular time.
Its all in the word a traffic JAM to me thats miles of cars bumper to bumper at a standstill now a traffic HOLDUP that could be caused by a broken down car that is causing a HOLDUP then there's the DELAY thats normaly caused by roadworks maybe a accident hey thats driving for you. Cassandra take no notice its all a bit of fun and the lights will soon be gone and all will be well untill the air show then will it be A JAM, HOLDUP, OR DELAY we shall see.
