GARDEN festival organisers are on the hunt for the last patch of Dawlish grown Devon Violets.
The team behind Toby Buckland’s Garden Festival at Powderham Castle next month are telling the story of Dawlish’s heyday as the capital of Devon Violet growing at the turn of the century.
Nurseries selling the fragrant spring flower sprung up all over the town with home gardeners even gathering up their small posies for sending by steam train for sale at London’s Covent Garden.
