Hello

We have recently moved into  property on the new Cavanna site,  does anyone know what  the plans are for the woods area, both Gatehouse School end and near the golf course?

I can hear lots of tree chopping going on, and on my dog walked this morning, noticed a large amount of trees have been chopped down.     Are they building new properties in there?

There are two wooded areas near you and they adjoin each other. One is James' Plantation which is privately owned and I think will become part of the housing development the other is Elm Grove Woods which is publicly owned.

Do you know in which woodland the trees are being cut down?

Elm Grove Wood

A small community woodland on the edge of Dawlish.

Elm Grove Wood is just off Elm Grove Road, next to Gatehouse school, Dawlish. It was originally part of a much larger wooded area surrounding Elm Grove House. The lattice effect of chestnut bark and the dappled light through the leaves in this maturing woodland enhance your daily woodland stroll.

a lot of trees are being chopped down recently due to damage from the weather, could this be the reason. Oaklands Park have had a few removed

Thanks Lynne

Yes, the chopping is going on in the large woods area, my parents have always refered to it as James' Plantation.

Sad to see woodland turned in to a house development - think of the wildlife they have/will disturbing. :-(...

What do you think your house was built on Leah?

What do we think most of our houses were built on?

Churchill Avenue was once allotments, Westcliff Park Drive was fields, looking the other way the Elm Grove estate and Littleweek were also fields.

Meadow Rise, The Paddocks etc etc all were fields or had trees and all were built on within living memory of someone under 60.

Not really fair to start making sarky comments.

Hold on... I'm not making sarky comment. I wasn't aware that the areas mentioned abovehad previously been woodland/ fields.  Excuse my ignorance!

i make an innocent comment & get abuse from some jumped up bullies, with nothing else to do.

Actually I was trying to defend you!

I get annoyed when people on here jump down other throats for asking questions and was attempting to make a point in your favour!
