I was included in the delegation to meet Prime Minister. I put the problem to him and explained the anxiety for Parents. He promised to follow this up, and asked one of his staff to talk immediately to Network Rail. I'm now told there will be an extra 3 movements each morning / afternoon to Exeter and Torre. Mr Mellor from NR has promised to talk to the Colleges about how they can work closer together. Told the PM this was also a problem for workers trying to get to jobs, and he told his team to keep on the case with this.
A very good point Michael and well done for putting that forward.
I was most surprised that 2 prominant tories were conspicuous by their absense this morning.
1. Ros Prowse, who as leader of TDC, I thought would have been there.
2. Anne-Marie Morris, who as our MP, again, I would have thought that she would have been on the scene.
@Carer. anne-marie morris was with the transport secretary. she cant be with everyone. by the way where is nick clegg? you know, our coalition buddy. Just let Network Rail get on with the job.
@Carer, Anne Marie Morris was there, wearing a very nice orange ensemble and a hard hat. Easy to miss in that unfamiliar get-up. :)
I have followed this up with the Council as some Councillors knew nothing about this meeting. Apparently there were a number of people at the meeting including Anne Marie, the Mayor and key people from TDC as well as affected residents.
Seriously Margaret, is your nose out of joint because you weren't part of the delegation that met Camoron??? You need to be told that your ego is utterly irrelevant compared to what's happened to our town!! Your post beggars belief!
@MrsC. That's not the point Margaret is making. She is just confirming that the MP and others were present at the meeting, as that was being questioned by Carer.
Oh dear Mrs C you do not know me at all do you! From the list of 16 Councillors, in order of priority if meeting David Cameron, I would place myself at number 16. That is because my fellow councillors have done an amazing job over the last week whilst I have been able to contribute very little due to the fact I work full time. My point was that it would have been helpful if Councillors knew what was going on so we could speak reliably and with conviction when we are asked questions by the electorate.
Margaret, I'd respectfully suggest that if you want to speak authoritatively to your electorate, then you first learn to write in a way that the common person like me can understand and has no ambiguity.
If you have a problem with not being part of the delegation that met Camoron, then I'm not sure why you'd air that on here?
