Flood Warning

 

Flooding is expected. Immediate action required. This is the second highest warning the Environment Agency issues

 

This warning is for 

Location:  Low lying and exposed communities between Start Point and Dawlish Warren, including Beesands, Torcross, Slapton, Torbay and Dawlish

 

I think most people near the sea front are prepared, but if you need sandbags, there is a supply near the Bus Stop

. The predicted astronomical tide level is 2.77mAOD tomorrow. The forecast surge height is 0.29m tomorrow. The forecast wind direction is WSW tomorrow. The forecast wind strength is Force 6. Times of high tide will vary along the coast. Conditions will usually apply 2-4 hours either side of high tide. Following the storms at the beginning of the year some coastal defences in Devon have been damaged and beach levels are low. Repairs are ongoing at these sites. We are advising that you remain alert in these locations for potential rapidly changing situations. We will be monitoring these sites during the storms to see how they respond and will enact any emergency plans as necessary. We are aware of damage to the coastal defences at Dawlish Warren Spit.
