Been away in London for a few days (anyone want to know what a local Dawlish Ukiper said to me about that please let me know 'cos I'll be only too pleased to tell) and came back to see a request from MC that we should perhaps have more local and less national politics.
Happy to oblige Michael.
I see in this week's Dawlish Post that the number of Job Seekers in Teignbridge bucked the national trend and increased in December to 1,102 up from 1,071 the previous month. The Dawlish Post asked our MP to comment on these figures and she replied thus: "Unemployed claimants in Newton Abbot constituency Dec - 2012, 1,139. Unemployed claimaints Newton Abbot constituency December 2013 -829".
Ahem! a discrepancy in those figures? Guess it'll have to be put down to a difference in the area covered by Teignbridge Distrrict Council and the area covered by Newton Abbot parliamentary constituency..........
Also and on the same page (5) there's an article about how very nearly 400 people applied for the 100 or so jobs available at the new Waitrose due to open in Teignmouth in the next few months.
(And then there's the London economy...............but as London isn't Dawlish...............and therefore isn't local........I'd better not say anymore...........)
Please
